Spauldite^® Phenolic bearing retainer grades offer consistent, proven performance in ball-bearing applications. Spauldite^® bearing-retainer grades offer excellent oil retention, light weight, and high strength in a consistent homogeneous material. Spaulding offers these grades in tube form as well as high-precision finished parts.

Spaulding offers retainer grades in convolute-wound construction that provides high hoop and axial strength.

Spaulding offers convolute-wound bearing-retainer grades from .093 inch to 18 inch inside diameter. Our large inventory of mandrel sizes allows for prompt delivery of virtually any size in between.

Through formulation and process adjustments, Spaulding is able to tailor retainer density for your application. Generally higher density provides greater strength with reduced oil pick up. Lower density allows for greater oil absorption with reduced mechanical properties.

Grades

T-324: Spauldite^® paper-phenolic tubing for bearing retainers. The thin-paper reinforcement allows for fine machining details, but typically does not have the toughness of a fabric-reinforced material.

Density:	1.14 g/cc
Water Absorption:	1.75% (.062 inch wall)

T-325: Spauldite^® fine-weave cotton-phenolic tubing for bearing retainers.

Compression Strength:	24,000 PSI
Density:	1.28 g/cc
Water Absorption:	1.5 % (.125 inch wall)

Note: T-325 is available with a special thermal treatment designated T-320. This additional thermal treatment provides extra dimensional stability and improved temperature performance with a slight reduction in impact toughness and strain-to-failure.

T-328: Spauldite^® fine-weave cotton-linen phenolic tubing for bearing retainers. This grade is noted for its high strength and density.

Compression Strength:	28,000 PSI
Density:	1.30 g/cc
Water Absorption:	1.0 % (.125 inch thick sample)

T-339: Spauldite^® extra fine-weave cotton-linen phenolic tubing for bearing retainers. This grade is noted for its extra-fine construction that allows for precise machining.

Compression Strength:	26,000 PSI
Density:	1.28 g/cc
Water Absorption:	2.0% (.125 inch thick sample)

Note: T-339 is available in with a special thermal treatment designated T-346. This additional thermal treatment provides extra dimensional stability and improved temperature performance with a slight reduction in impact toughness and strain-to-failure.
